France - Art Nouveau
Among the hallmarks of Art Nouveau are long, generous, curving
lines, sinuous plant forms, broken colours and continual over-refinement.
Emil Gallé (glasses, furniture) and Hector Guimard (Paris metro stations)
were among the protagonists and virtuosos of the floral style.
Art Nouveau was an international current in art, closely linked
to the trends appearing in postimpressionist paining - symbolic and decorative,
linear and superficial design.
It created the basic prerequisites for the aesthetics of modern design in
industrial mass production
