Germany - Münchner Vereinigte Werkstätten
für Kunst und Handwerk - ("Munich Workshops for Arts and
Crafts")
Richard Riemerschmid, Hermann Obrist, Bernhard Pankok and Bruno Paul were
among the founder members of these workshops initiated in 1897/98.
On the occasion of the Munich exhibition in the Glass Palace (1897) they formed
a group and worked together with local craftsmen until their own workshops
were opened (cutlery and porcelain continued to be manufactured externally).
As was the case with their colleagues in other countries, their manifesto
emphasised the fact that their work was handcrafted and that the use of suitable
materials was of great importance.
